2020 Announcement!

This year was due to be a huge extravaganza for RBS, as we were about to celebrate our 30th Anniversary on the 21st November 2020.

However, the current pandemic and situations beyond our control have forced us to make a difficult decision. So, it is with a deep sadness and a heavy heart that Robertsbridge Bonfire Society will NOT be holding their Torchlit procession and fireworks this year.

We have held onto a glimmer of hope that the virus would have long been gone and that we would be able to show off our wonderful fireworks and fantastic effigies and wow the crowds, and celebrate with you all in style. Unfortunately, as days have gone on that is clearly not the case, our priority is the safety of our members, the public and to also not be a burden on the already overstretched emergency services should they be required. From every negative there is a positive and we will use this extra time wisely to plan for next year, to tweak our already fabulous ideas, increase fundraising activity and create a spectacular event to mark our postponed 30th anniversary.

On behalf of Robertsbridge Bonfire Society, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, who have over the years supported us. To all our fellow societies who have also had to make this heart-breaking decision we wish you the absolute best for the next year. To all the members of the public who have given generously with their time and donations we cannot begin to tell you how much your support means to us, thank you so much. And finally, to all the services locally and beyond that help to facilitate a safe event. Without any of you our night would not happen, and we look forward to making 2021 the year to celebrate!!!!

Until we can all be together again, Stay Safe,

Ria Paine
Robertsbridge Bonfire Chairman
